Introduction
Ingrain South Africa (Pty) Ltd is seeking a seasoned and strategic Distribution and Logistics Lead to drive the efficient movement of goods across our network and lead our distribution and logistics team in delivering best-in-class service, operational excellence, and cost optimisation. This pivotal role is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and optimisation of Ingrain's end-to-end distribution and logistics operations—ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery, aligned to customer expectations and business goals. You will lead the areas of: - Customer Order Fulfilment & Service - Inbound and Outbound Transportation - Distribution Planning & Route Optimisation - Imports & Export Logistics - Third-Party Logistics (3PL/4PL) Management

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Optimisation

  • Formulate and implement long-term distribution strategies aligned with business goals

  • Drive logistics innovation and continuous improvement to reduce Cost to Serve

Operational Management

  • Oversee warehousing, transport, order fulfilment, and inventory control

  • Ensure OTIF delivery standards and efficient goods movement locally and internationally

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing logistics team

  • Drive succession planning, capability development, and a culture of collaboration

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Manage logistics budgets and KPIs

  • Lead cost control, contract negotiations, and service-level alignment with providers

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Operations, and IT

  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, transporters, and service partners

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full adherence to legal and safety regulations across the supply chain

  • Develop robust risk mitigation and contingency planning

Minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (Essential)

  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification (Advantageous)

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years in Distribution and Logistics Management

  • Proven track record in leading multi-modal logistics operations

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred), route planning, and data analysis

Technical & Behavioural Competencies

  • Deep understanding of logistics systems and best practices

  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement ability

  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities

  • Comfortable with complexity, ambiguity, and a fast-paced environment

Computer Literacy

  • MS Office Suite (Intermediate to Advanced)

  • ERP System (Intermediate)

Other Requirements

  • Valid Code B Driver’s License

  • Ability to work flexible hours when required
