Introduction
As a Supply Chain Lead you will be responsible for managing inventory and purchasing procedures of raw materials, chemicals, packaging, and other commodities within the company. The incumbent collaborates with other managers to determine supply needs, purchase supplies and materials according to specifications and coordinate and supervise receiving procedures.
Job description

Financial
·       Achieves results through others with optimal use of resources by managing working capital
·       Gives input into budgeting, monitors cash flow and cost Centre reporting and control
·       Analyze monthly financial performance and devise corrective actions where applicable.
·       Authorises expenditure and ensures adherence to Procurement Policies
 
People
·       Responsible for the performance management of team members and providing appropriate feedback relating to department goals and team members.
·       Measure, track and follow up on KPIs on an ongoing basis (monthly, daily etc.) and manage IDPs for the team.
·       Responsible for developing, coaching and mentoring team
·       Prepares plans, organizes, leads and directs the mill materials management team to provide solutions towards achieving the materials management objectives of the organization.
Business Processes
·       Develops and ensures implementation of the Mill’s materials management strategies aligned to commercial business objectives and goals
·       Develops plans, procedures, schedules and interventions aimed at optimising all materials management resources, technologies, sub-contractors, capital and logistical systems.
·       Leads the development and implementation of best practice & quality programmes within materials management systems and procedures.
·       Partner with procurement to scope, tender and implement mill based contracts on behalf of the organisation within the agreed budgets and service levels to support business strategy
·       Maps and drives activities/work flow processes to ensure value add for department.
·       Ensure adequate availability of tools, resources (incl. raw materials) and training to the team
·       Ensure that internal/external Audit findings are timeously and effectively closed.

·       Understand customer needs and supplier contributions to drive operational results
·       Listen to, accurately captures and actions customers expectations, ideas and concerns
·       Resolve all customer complaints within the agreed timelines
·       Build and maintain effective working relationship with key stakeholders

Minimum requirements

Qualifications
Degree in Commerce, Logistics or Supply Chain 
Relevant SAPICS certification/ accreditation and/or membership will be an added advantage
Experience
Minimum 5 years or more experience in a manufacturing environment including management/supervision   of others.
Knowledge
·       Knowledge of inventory control.
·       Experience in shipping and receiving.
·       Business and financial administration of departmental and other mill cost centres
·       Logistics and supply chain management including principles of transporting goods by all modes and costs benefits analysis
·       Production and processing principles including raw materials (ordering, transportation and storage),quality control and techniques of maximising manufacturing and distribution performance
